About the Sega Game Gear
The Game Gear is a color, backlit handheld built on Master System hardware. It was larger and more powerful than the Game Boy, and its TV tuner accessory let you watch broadcast TV on it. It also ate six AA batteries in three to five hours, which is the main thing people remember about it.
Sonic the Hedgehog and its sequels, Shinobi, Columns, Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya, Defenders of Oasis and Ristar are well-liked, and the Master Gear adapter lets it play Master System games. Most games are inexpensive loose; prices go up for late releases and complete copies in good condition.
Almost every Game Gear now needs new capacitors; a dim, faded or silent unit is the usual symptom. Many sellers offer recapped or screen-modded units, which should be described as such and are generally the better buy for playing.
