About the Sony PlayStation 1
The PlayStation started as a CD add-on Sony was building for Nintendo, and became Sony's own console when that deal fell apart. It launched in North America at $299, $100 under the Saturn, and CDs that were cheap to press brought in publishers Nintendo had lost. It became the first console to pass 100 million units sold.
Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Gran Turismo, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are only the best known. Because so much of it sold in big numbers, most games are inexpensive; value comes from late-era RPGs and small-print-run releases such as Suikoden II, Valkyrie Profile, Tales of Destiny II and Rhapsody.
Black-label first prints and Greatest Hits (green-label) reprints are both common, and collectors usually prefer the black labels. The jewel cases crack easily, so the manual and back insert are what usually matter for "complete". Bootleg discs are common for expensive RPGs; check the black disc underside and the printing.

Models & revisions
PS One
The PS One (officially stylized as PS one and alternatively spelled PSOne and PSone) is a smaller, redesigned version of the original PlayStation platform. The PS One is fully compatible with all PlayStation software, but compatibility with peripherals may vary. The PS One model also had additional changes, including the removal of the parallel and serial ports from the rear of the console, and the removal of the reset button (the power button is also labeled as a reset button, but the console cannot be reset without entirely turning it off).

Net Yaroze
The Net Yaroze (ネットやろうぜ, Netto Yarōze) is a development kit for the PlayStation video game console. It was a promotion by Sony Computer Entertainment to computer programming hobbyists which launched in June 1996 in Japan and in 1997 in other countries. It was originally called "Net Yarouze", but was changed to "Net Yaroze" in late 1996. Yarōze means "Let's do it together".
